  • The City of Milwaukee had invited artists to submit qualifications for the creation of temporary public artwork to be installed on City-owned vacant land, in a variety of durable media in the Bronzeville/Harambee neighborhood. The area of interest is specifically the lot that is located next to the 628 W. North Avenue building. The goals of the project aim to bring the community together with art by transforming a vacant lot, support temporary public art projects that celebrate creativity and also enhance the identity and culture of the Bronzeville/Harambee neighborhood. The budget for artwork is $20,000 for all artist’s costs and fees, with the artwork meant to be displayed for a minimum of 18 months. The relationship of artwork to the site, the Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District and specifically, how it serves to enhance the public space will also be a deciding factor in choosing a finalist.

  • Estimated installation date: updates coming soon - watch for details
