AN INVITATION FROM THE MAYOR
Dear Friends,
In October of 2005, I had the honor of leading a delegation to China, laying the groundwork for strengthened business, academic and cultural relationships between Milwaukee and cities in China.
While in Ningbo, China, I signed an agreement on behalf of the City of Milwaukee expressing our intention to establish friendly exchanges to advance business relationships between our two cities. Since that time, Milwaukee has hosted several delegation visits from representatives from the Ningbo municipal government.
Next week, I will once again host a delegation from Ningbo that includes key government and business leaders. During the visit, the City of Ningbo will formally present a gift of two stone lions to the City of Milwaukee on Monday, July 21st. Stone lions are traditionally used to guard a building and those within. These lions will be a lasting and powerful symbol of the friendly relationship between our two cities.
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the official unveiling ceremony which will include a traditional Chinese Lion Dance. I hope you'll be able to join me in welcoming the delegation to Milwaukee, and expressing our appreciation for this special gift.
