Positive Recreational Facility For Youth

The Indoor Soccer Task Force is moving forward with plans to develop a regulation indoor soccer facility, designed primarily for south side young people. "Too often we forget to let our young people know that we care about them and their needs," said Ald. Zielinski. "Lots of kids love soccer, and this indoor facility will provide an outlet for them to play soccer in all kinds of weather, a positive, healthy alternative to help keep them out of trouble."

Ald. Zielinski created the task force, which has purchased a five-acre site at S. 5th St. and W. Harrison Ave. for the 80,000 square foot building. The $5 million facility will be built primarily with private donations. "Given our current tax climate, it was extremely important to me that the facility be constructed with private sector dollars," said Ald. Zielinski.
