et aside one Saturday of each month for the Wehr Birders. Join staff in watching the birds while walking the paths of the Nature Center. You might spot fall migratory birds as they rest on their way south or the arrival of hearty wintering birds. Whether you're a beginning or expert birder, you're welcome to join us for the morning. Bring your binoculars and favorite guide books.

Join Paul, a favorite birding leader, for these early Sunday morning strolls. Bring your binoculars and your favorite bird identification book to Wehr for what promises to be an informative and enjoyable morning of birding.

Great Backyard Bird Count
Fri.–Mon., Feb. 20–23, 2009
Join the fun! BirdSource, a partnership of citizens and scientists designed and managed by the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology, asks you, your family, your school group, or your community group to count the birds that visit your backyard bird feeders. International Migratory Bird Day
Sat., May 16, 2009, 7:30am–noon
Take part in our early morning hike and bird count. You'll help count birds returning from their winter vacations. Whether you're a first-timer or an experienced birder, we welcome you to participate. Bring field guides and binoculars if you'd like. Limited number of binoculars available for loan.

Federal Junior Duck Stamp Display
Nov. 10-25, 2008
Winning entries from local southeastern Wisconsin schools will be on display. The national winner has his or her name printed on the stamp the year following the competition.

Christmas Bird Count
Sat., Dec. 19, 2009, 8 a.m.-noon

Help count birds wintering at Wehr. Whether you're a first-timer or an experienced birder, we welcome you to participate. This count is held throughout the country and provides information on long-term trends in our avian fauna. Results will be submitted to the National Audubon Society. Bring field guides and binoculars if you'd like. At noon, enjoy a potluck chili lunch (bring a dish to pass). Continue the count in the afternoon if you've been "bitten by the birding bug."
Register by the Saturday prior to the program
2009 Fee: $5 (to cover submission costs) and a pot of your "secret recipe" chili
