City Prepares for Predicted Rainfall
Citizens Can Contact Department of Public Works Call Center

Milwaukee--In anticipation of predicted rainfall over the next two days, Department of Public Works staff is checking all underpasses and known low-lying areas of City streets that are prone to surface ponding.  These areas are being checked to make sure the sewer grates are open.

DPW's Infrastructure Services Sewer Section has staff on call 24 hours a day in case they are needed to deal with street ponding.  There are 80 staff members available and 25 pieces of equipment that can alleviate surface ponding.

The Department of Public Works is requesting property owners and businesses to check the sewer grates in front of their property and remove any debris that might be obstructing them.  If the sewer grates are frozen over, concerned citizens can contact the City's Call Center at (414) 286-2828 and provide them with the address.
