Telecommunicator (911 operator) - For either regular or seasonal (summer) jobs, you must be a U.S. citizen or eligible for employment, at least 18 years old, have strong oral communication and telephone skills, demonstrate accuracy in listening to and recording information, and be able to type at least 35 words per minute.
Dispatcher (Police or Fire) must have at least six months of experience as a fire, police or ambulance dispatcher OR at least two years experience in high intensity telephone work which includes receiving and/or resolving complaints, problem-solving, or substantial responsibility for giving and receiving information while simultaneously entering data into a computer.
Police Aide is a full-time employment opportunity for qualified 17 – 19 year-olds, which may lead to a law enforcement career with the City of Milwaukee Police Department. Police Aides are uniformed civilian employees who receive training in performing department operations. Training also includes an intense physical fitness program. Police Aides receive work assignments that rotate on a regular basis to provide work experiences in various departmental divisions (e.g. Administration Bureau - including the Safety Academy, Patrol Bureau - including district police stations and prisoner processing section, and Criminal Investigation Bureau).
