The construction bid process for the Job Corps site near N. 60th and W. Green Tree Rd. closed at the end of October.
In August two meetings were held for contractors interested in bidding on the Job Corps project. A pre-bid meeting was held to explain to any interested contractor the federal bidding process and the other was a walk-through of the site for those contractors who were interested. The U.S. Department of Labor Job Corps office is now reviewing the responses and plans to issue a contract soon. Construction is now expected to begin in March 2009.
The Milwaukee location will be the second Job Corps facility in Wisconsin and will provide enrolled students with the opportunities to learn a trade, earn a high school diploma or GED and find a quality job.
The Job Corps facility will include educational buildings, dormitories, a cafeteria and recreational facilities serving 250 students.
