The Mandel Group, UWM Real Estate Foundation, and UW Student Affairs will be co-hosting a series of meetings in October and November to discuss the Mandel Group's student residence hall proposal. Each meeting will cover one of four aspects of the development (environmental initiatives, neighborhood safety & security, building design features & neighborhood retail, traffic/transportation & parking). Anyone interested in the project is welcome to attend.
The UWM Real Estate Foundation has selected three finalists for a proposed 500-700 bed student dormitory slated to open in fall 2010. At the meetings listed below, the development teams will explain the details of their proposals and UWM representatives will also be present. The questions we ask and the opinions we share will inform the site selection and design process.

This provides an opportunity for more public input in the final selection process. Alderman Kovac will be working closely with neighborhood groups, UWM, the UWM Real Estate Foundation, and the project finalists to set up open public meetings to give interested parties an opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas and concerns about each project with the developers, the Foundation, UWM, and each other. We hope the developers will use this input to improve their projects and the UWM Real Estate Foundation will take the results of these meetings into consideration when making it's final decision.
