Milwaukee's ARRA Formula Allocations

How much money is City government getting through ARRA formula allocations?

To date, City government has been notified that it will receive a little more than $33 million in formula allocations. These funds will be spent in accordance with detailed program rules published by the federal agencies listed below. Funds will be used to advance the City government’s mission to enhance the safety, prosperity and quality of life of Milwaukee citizens, working directly and through partnerships with our community stakeholders.

Funds will be used to prevent, fight and prosecute crime.

Funds will be used to support projects and programs that promote job creation and economic development.

Funds will be used for services to homeless citizens, homeless prevention and activities including rental assistance, housing relocation and stabilization services.

HUD Lead Hazard Reduction/Healthy Homes $874,000

Funds will be used for asthma and lead-abatement related activities.

DOE Energy Block Grants $5.8 million

Funds will be used to promote energy efficiency while providing green jobs training and employment opportunities for citizens.

Youth summer/year round employment, training and
support services: $3.8 million.

Adult job training, placement assistance and
support services: $1.4 million.

DOT Federal Highway Administration Surface Transportation Program The State of Wisconsin received $529 million for state and local transportation projects.

Some of that money – approximately $38 million – will be shared by local governments in the Milwaukee area (including Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties) to repair arterial and collector streets.

The State also has allotted $15 million of its stimulus allocation for transportation enhancement projects throughout Wisconsin. The City of Milwaukee will apply for part of those funds as well.
