Feb. 2 - A suspect running from a stolen car quickly stopped after he heard the bark of MPD K9 Cyrus. Officer Christina Marshal and K9 Kenny assisted Officer Derek Vernon and K9 Cyrus when they tried to stop a car for speeding at N. 17th and W. Highland at about 1:30 a.m. on January 29. The driver didn’t stop for the officers, but continued for a few blocks and then ran from the car. Officer Vernon and Cyrus ran after the suspect, who suddenly stopped when he heard Cyrus barking.
The officers later determined the van was recently stolen. The suspect will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for charges.
