The City of Milwaukee Health Department's Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) and HIV Program is supported primarily by the City of Milwaukee with significant assistance from the Wisconsin Division of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Services offered by the program include screening for sexually transmitted diseases, HIV counseling and testing, medical case management for women living with HIV, presentations to community groups and participation in health fairs.

Health educators and public health nurses are available to provide health education to school and community groups in the City of Milwaukee's Representatives from Milwaukee Health Department participate in various community and planning groups at state and local levels to help develop comprehensive STD and HIV prevention and intervention programs. The HIV Women's Program is a collaborative effort between the Milwaukee Health Department and the Wisconsin HIV Primary Care Support Network. Public Health Nurses from Milwaukee Health Department provide intensive medical case management to HIV positive women in Milwaukee who are at high risk of not receiving medical care due to poverty, substance abuse and mental health issues. Potential clients are referred into the program through medical and social service providers in the community.
