Principal Expense Statements

• Every principal is required to file with the License Division an expense statement covering the preceding reporting period. 

• If a principal has made lobbying expenditures of $500 or more within a reporting period, the principal is required to include with the Principal Expense Statement a contemporaneous record disclosing the time and resources spent on each attempt to influence legislative or administrative action in each subject area.

• In the event a principal has made lobbying expenditures of less than $500 in a reporting period, the principal is required to file an abbreviated Principal Expense Statement.

• Principal Expense Statements are required to be filed no more than 30 days after the end of each reporting period.  There is a fee in the amount of $25 for the late filing of the statement. The table below indicates the filing deadline date for each reporting period. 

• All accounts, bills, receipts, books, papers and other documents necessary to substantiate a Principal Expense Statement must be obtained, organized and preserved by the principal and any lobbyist engaged by the principal for 3 years after the filing of the expense statement.
