Every workplace has fire extinguishers, but do you know how to use them? Fire extinguisher safety certification is the perfect time to get some hands on experience.
This exciting program is conducted at the Milwaukee Fire Department Fire Academy located at 6680 North Teutonia (click here for map and directions). We invite groups to come and use our facilities for this live fire training. During the classroom portion which lasts about 40 minutes, participants are instructed in the use of extinguishers and how to handle other emergencies at the workplace. The class then moves outside where participants have the opportunity to extinguish a live fire under the supervision of trained firefighters in a controlled environment.
Participants in this training will always remember the experience of actually using an extinguisher and putting out a fire. Groups must provide their extinguishers for this training. A list of vendors in the Milwaukee area is provided below. We recommend 1 extinguisher for every 4 participants.
Tell the vendor you are doing extinguisher training with the Milwaukee Fire Department, and that you would like "dry-chem" extinguishers and you will return the extinguishers when the training is complete.
