Bureaus
The Milwaukee Fire Department Bureau of Administration is headed by Deputy Chief Michael Romas.

This bureau is responsible for maintaining records of alarms, fire losses, personnel and costs, as well as accountable for payroll, budget requests and expenditures. Additionally, this bureau is responsible for the automation and data processing of technical services in the department such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and other computerization requirements for the MFD. The dispatch office also falls under this bureau and is the vital link between the public and the firefighting division. MFD dispatchers receive and handle all E 9-1-1 calls, other emergency and administrative calls, and dispatch all emergency, telephone and radio equipment.
The MFD Bureau of Instruction and Training is headed by Deputy Chief Michael Jones.

This bureau is responsible for the proper instruction and training of all members of the firefighting division, as well as the research and development in the science of firefighting techniques. Additionally, this bureau is responsible for the MFD Community Relations Department, Project Staying Alive and FOCUS (Firefighters Out Creating Urban Safety). The Bureau of Instruction and Training also handles vehicle operations instructions, inventory control for proper protective equipment, audiovisual support, and portable and vehicle radio communication equipment.
The MFD Bureau of Construction and Maintenance is headed by Deputy Chief Darrell Moore.

This bureau is responsible for repairing and maintaining all MFD equipment, firefighting apparatus, buildings, and for furnishing the firefighting division with all firefighting and EMS equipment and supplies. The Bureau of Construction and Maintenance remains the primary ordering point for the department. All specifications for new emergency vehicles are developed by this bureau, and before entering service with the MFD, all vehicles and equipment must be formally inspected and accepted for vehicle delivery by the Bureau of Construction and Maintenance.
The MFD Bureau of Special Operations is headed by Deputy Chief Gloria Murawsky.

This bureau has three special teams within the Milwaukee Fire Department: Dive Rescue Team, Hazardous Materials Team, and H.U.R.T (Heavy Urban Rescue Team). Additionally, this bureau is responsible for the effective operation of MFD Emergency Medical Services, and the coordination of Homeland Security activities within the Milwaukee Fire Department.
